ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the necessity and feasibility of introducing the courses of dental practice management in the undergraduate education of stomatology under the background of the undergraduate entrepreneurship education reform. Methods:In the School of Stomatology of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, the entrepreneurial course dental practice management was set-up for the junior undergraduate students. CBL, PBL, teacher's lecture, student's lecture on the stage and PPT demonstration, role-play, and team cooperation were taken in the course. And the questionnaires were used to investigate the course setting, necessity, teaching forms and satisfaction from multiple groups. SPSS was performed for data analysis, and the teaching effect was evaluated through the data results. Results:The scores of 108 students in the study [(75.99±5.76) points] were roughly distributed as normal functions. The results of the survey showed that the number of students who planned to have their own private clinics after the course increased by 41 (37.96%) compared with that before the course. All instructors and 33 (78.57%) active dentists thought that the course was reasonable in the undergraduate courses. Conclusion:It is necessary and feasible to introduce the dental practice management course in undergraduate education of stomatology, which will have a certain guiding effect on the long-term development of dentists, and is also beneficial to the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship courses in medical universities.

ABSTRACT

Rapid palatal expansion (RPE) is commonly used to correct transverse maxillary deficiencies and recognized as a reliable orthopedic procedure in children and adolescents. For adults, however, conventional RPE has been considered rarely successful and can produce undesirable dental effects. Along with the development of digital techniques and mini-implant anchorage, a novel method called miniscrew-assisted RPE (MARPE) has become available for the treatment of maxillary transverse deficiency in older patients recently. In this article, the biomechanical principles and indications of MARPE, the advances in device design, the clinical effects, the matters needing attention and limitations of this method, and the stability after expansion are discussed.

ABSTRACT

During the past decade, the anchorage implants have been widely used in the orthodontic treatment. Many scholars have studied the influence of different factors on anchorage implant's primary stability, including anchorage implant's material properties, structural design, surgical procedure, bone condition, loading force's magnitude and direction. This article is to review the influence of anchorage implant's shape, dimension, neck design and thread design on its primary stability.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the curative efficacy of dydrogesterone in treatment of Climacteric syndrome and its effects on sex hormone, blood fat.Methods104 patients of Climacteric syndrome who received therapy from February 2014 to November 2016 in our hospital were selected as research objects, according to different divided into observation group and control group, treatment group used to bend progesterone therapy, the control group using a placebo.one month after treatment to observe the two groups of clinical curative effect, compare two groups before and after the treatment and testing level of estradiol (E2), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH),total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).ResultsAfter treatment, the clinical total effective rate in the two groups to compare have no significant difference;Compared with before treatment, the control group in estrogen level and blood lipid levels in patients with no significant change, the observation group of patients with E2 and HDL-C level increased significantly, and significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05);FSH, LH, TC, TG, LDL levels significantly decreased, and significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05).ConclusionUsing of dydrogesterone short time the clinical curative effect of treatment of menopausal syndrome with placebo, but can effectively improve patient sex hormone levels, adjust blood lipid levels, to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) patients, improve their quality of life.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVEThis study aimed at using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to study the influence ofprolonged unilateral posterior teeth loss on bilateral condylar morphology.

METHODSThe CBCT images of 30 patients withprolonged unilateral posterior teeth loss and 30 healthy people as controls were corrected. Mimics 15.0 software was used tomeasure volume, area, distance, and bone density of condyle. The results were statistically analyzed.

RESULTSThe volumeand bone density of condylar head and the entire condyle on missing teeth side were less than the contralateral side (P<0.05).The area and bone density of condylar transverse plane were greater than the contralateral side (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONAfter prolonged unilateral posterior teeth loss, adaptive reconstruction occurs in the bilateral condyles, and condyle of missing teethside is smaller than the contralateral side.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVEThe skeletal Class III malocclusion often occurs in ethnic Asia population, and it is difficult to obtain an ideal results if only treated with protraction headgear (PH). However, the combined rapid palatal expansion (RPE), Edgewise Technique and PH can reach it, so the authors investigated the methods and characteristics of combined RPE, Edgewise Technique and PH in the treatment of skeletal Class III malocclusion.

METHODSFifteen patients, aged 8.5-12 years, including six males and 9 females, with skeletal Class III malocclusion and maxillary retrusion were selected for this study. Radiographs of left hand and wrist showed that all patients were at the pre-pubertal stage. The duration of treatment was nine months on average.

RESULTSThe SNA and A-ptm increased with a mean of cephalometric analysis, which showed significant difference (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONObvious skeletal and profile changes can be achieved with combined RPE, Edgewise Technique and PH in the treatment of early skeletal Class III malocclusion.
